Located in Saint Paul’s historic Cathedral Hill neighborhood and in the middle of Selby’s Restaurant Row, Dr. Chocolate’s Chocolate Chateau is conveniently located just west of downtown Saint Paul.
The Trott/Birch House was designed by Herman Kretz, a German born architect who settled in Saint Paul in 1887. Built in 1890, the house is unique to the Twin Cities because of its height–a full three stories and a partial fourth floor. Kretz is responsible for many other buildings in the area including the Blair Arcade (Selby & Western), the Commerce Building, and the Waldorf Flats on Summit Ave.
